SHANGLA: The Shangla physically challenged persons have demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s elementary and secondary education department to ensure two percent job quota in the recently advertised over 500 primary school teacher posts for Shangla, also their share in DPR funds.
They raised these demands during a first ever Kulti Kutchery for persons with disabilities arranged by the deputy commissioner, Shangla, Zia Ur Rehman at social welfare complex on Thursday. The Kuli Kutchehry was attended by over 50 special persons from the different parts of Shangla.
The physically differently-abled persons have drawn the deputy commissioner attentions towards their core issues, demanding a two percent quota in jobs particularly in the recent advertised primary school teachers posts.
Hussain Ali, a disabled person with spinal cord injury, said that he regretted today that the deputy commissioner had called Kuli Kutchehry for special persons but the relevant authorities including Baitulmal and education officers were absent.
“We want our basic rights from which the government bodies had kept deprived us. Around 7500 members of our community are registered with the social welfare department of Shangla of which over 200 are those of spinal cord injured,” He pointed out.
Mr Ali added that they had also filed a case in the session court to obtain stay order on the recently advertised PTC posts in education department which their 2 percent quota was excluded and they would move to the high court because session court did not issue stay order.
Almas Khan, another disabled person, said they spent their collected amount to get their fundamental rights by paying the lawyers fee and other expenditure but neither concerned authorities nor lawmaker took concrete steps for their welfare and addressing their issues.
He said their share in the DPR funds never been paid to any of Shangla’s persons with disabilities and government authorities was also unaware that where the funds was used.
Hidayatullah, another disabled person, claimed that they were also ignored in funds by Baitulmal and Zakat and Usher department and their local chairman paid the stipends to undeserving persons.
He urged the government and private sector departments to ensure construction rims at their offices for giving access to them as well, so that they could enter offices for their work.
The deputy commissioner, Shangla, Zia Ur Rehman on the occasion assured the special persons community of Shangla, said that he had Rs 12 lakh funds available this year in the DPR funds for the disabled persons and that would be allocated to the disabled persons.
The DC said the issues highlighted by the physically-challenged persons would be addressed on priority basis.
