Shangla administration Promises to Prioritize Disabled Persons

SHANGLA: The Shangla administration on Tuesday promised with the physically challenged persons that priority would be given to the physically challenged persons at all government departments, besides covering educational and healthcare expenses.

The Shangla administration organised an event at district headquarters Alpuri on Tuesday to mark the international day of persons with disabilities. Physically challenged persons from the parts of the district Shangla and officials of the line departments attended the event.

Assistant commissioner, Alpuri, Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui was also present on the occasion.

The handicapped persons on the occasion complained about their issues and lack of facilities at the government and private offices located in the district which they said caused them problems.

They highlighted their plights of being ignored in the welfare activities and their children deprived from the right of education because of not having money for buying books, note books, pencils etc.

Hussain Ali, a physically-differently-abled-person from Pir Abad said that Pakistan Baitul-Mal did not pay to their community although disabled persons in other district received their yearly cheque of Rs 25000.

Mr Ali claimed that people who were most deserving of BISP stipend had been removed from the beneficiaries which had further put them into financial disaster.

Assistant commissioner, Alpuri, Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui on the occasion promised the persons with disabilities that their issued would be addressed promptly and with priority.

AC Shangla said there has a big population of physically differently-abled persons in the district particularly those, crippled in the coalmine incidents in the different times.

He directed the health department officials to ensure free of cost tests, free of cost checkups at the DHQ hospital for disabled persons.

The AC Alpuri also instructed the officials to immediately construct wheel-chair ramps in all the government offices, schools so that they could easily move on the ramps.

He said they would give priority to physically challenged persons in the relief distribution activities as well as engaging them with multiple non-governmental organization for education and health expenses coverage.

The district headquarters Alpuri admin said the he would talk to the BISP director about the persons with disabilities stipend if they were removed from the beneficiaries lists.

AC Alpuri vowed that he would show his practical work on the decision he took today on Tuesday within next four days if failed the community may ask him.
