School teacher killed by influential for refusing marriage proposal

A female school teacher was shot dead for refusing a marriage proposal from a local influential, who used to harassed her in the past too and pressurizing her to tie the knot with him.

A first information report, registered at police station Totalai Buner by the slain woman father, Jan Muhammad, which copy is available with *The Northern Post,* said that her daughter was serving as a teacher at the government girl primary school, Jangdara.

“I myself along with my daughter Nargis-40 were going to her school for the duty early in the morning on Tuesday. When we reached Lohar Serai area where a white color car was parked and two armed men came out of it and opened indiscriminate firing at her daughter killing her on the spot,” Jan Muhammad stated in the FIR.

He asserted that both the armed men were Amani Zeb and Abdur Rehman, residents of Totalai and skipped the in the car after they killed his daughter, however he survived the attack.

The slain school teacher father said in the FIR that her daughter was unmarried and local influential Attaullah wanted to tie the knot with his daughter, while she was not agreed to the proposal and always refused but Attaullah often used to harassed them, his daughter and used to threatened.

He claimed in the FIR that his daughter was killed on the incitement of Attaullah and his daughter herself had reported to police on 20-09-2023 and FIR number 493 under sections 500, 506, 342/34 against Attaullah of Totalai.

In the old FIR slain woman had stated that Attaullah harassed her on the way and through Mobile phone and forcing for marriage and keeping relation.

She also wrote in her complaint that the accused used to pressurize his family, father and asking them that she would be of him and no one can marry with her.

District police officer, Buner, Shah Hassan told The Northern Post that the accused had been arrested and their trial started and he would ensure justice to the victim and her family.

The incident was widely condemned by the educationists across the province and urged the government to ensure the safe passage and security of women teachers.
