The Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf activists on Friday blocked the Karora Ajmeer road in Shahpur bazaar and staged a protest rally, demanding release of the party founder, former prime minister, Imran Khan who is incarcerated in the Adiala Jail in various cases.
The protest rally was called by the PTI’s senior leadership on Friday. The Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf senior leadership, former provincial minister, Shaukat Yousafzai, tehsil Alpuri Chairman, Waqar Ahmad Khan, provincial deputy general secretary, Nawaz Mehmood Khan, Ziaulhaq, Liaqat Ali Yousafzai and others addressed the rally.
The rally was started from Kuz Bazaar and protesters walked across the streets and gathered in the main chowk, Shahpur, while carrying flags, banners and shouting slogans for the release of Imran Khan.
They said Imran Khan was the only solution for economic crises and he was struggling for the public welfare but he was ousted while giving him punishment for the public.
PTI’s former provincial minister, Shaukat Yousafzai said that form 47 MNAs would no longer appear in public as they were exposed to the public and their government would end soon.
He said they (Jail management) claimed Imran Khan was given facilities in the prison but the fact was that he was living in a 7-8 feet room and just provided a room cooler, while during the Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari imprisonment, they were enjoying Air conditions and all other facilities.
He claimed when their centre government was ended, PTI had left 22 Billion dollars in the national exchequers but the current government was begging from foreign countries.
He said Imran Khan would be released from prison before August as he was constantly being acquitted in the fabricated cases.
“PML-N leader Amir Muqam asks his party workers why they did not vote for him. He is unable to face the people of Shangla and that day fled from the public when came for the condolences of the PML-N local leader,” Mr Yousafzai said.
He added that PTI’s chief minister, Ali Amin Gandapur would inaugurate the Karora-Ajmeer road to which World Bank gave funds and it was the provincial government project and he himself put efforts for it.
Nawaz Mehmood Khan said Imran Khan never agreed to deals and he would come out but for the public and to overcome the economic crises of the motherland.
He said their only demand was from the courts and anticipating them to hear the Imran Khan cases and give verdicts in the bogus cases and release him from the prison for the sake of the country and the nation.
