PTA, MCMC, and Nokia advance 5G innovation and digital cooperation

The four-day Masterclass (February 17–20) brings together over 60 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to explore 5G’s transformative impact and enhance cross-border digital cooperation

The Masterclass on “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity” began today, marking a key milestone in Pakistan-Malaysia digital collaboration. Hosted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in partnership with Nokia Pakistan.

The four-day Masterclass (February 17–20) brings together over 60 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to explore 5G’s transformative impact and enhance cross-border digital cooperation.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, highlighted 5G’s role in driving innovation and economic growth, calling the workshop a pivotal step in Pakistan’s digital ambitions. Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized that 5G adoption is crucial for Pakistan’s long-term economic and technological growth, enabling sustainable progress through Pakistan-Malaysia collaboration.

PTA Chairman, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), described 5G as a gateway to innovation, connectivity, and progress, reaffirming PTA’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering industries.

Mr. Mikko Lavanti, Senior Vice President Middle East and Africa, Nokia Mobile Network, reiterated Nokia’s commitment to Pakistan’s digital transformation, stating that 5G is a key driver of economic growth.

H.E Amb. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan mentioned MCMC’s role in international partnerships, talent development, and advancing 5G adoption to build a skilled workforce for digital transformation.

The Masterclass features technical sessions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities, laying the foundation for future technological progress and cooperation. Through this partnership, PTA and MCMC aim to drive innovation, foster knowledge-sharing, and strengthen digital capabilities in both countries.
