SHANGLA: Provincial minister for labour and culture Shaukat Yousafzai has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is creating hurdles in the uplift of Shangla as it had obtained stay orders on recently-tendered development schemes. The minister was talking to journalists at Shahpur on Monday.

He said development of the backward district was his top priority, adding hundreds of small and major schemes had been approved, but the PML-N local leaders were creating hurdles to the projects’ execution.

“I am trying my best to fulfil the promises I made with the voters of PK-23 constituency during the elections,” he said. Mr Yousafzai said contractors should complete the projects in time and ensure quality, or face blacklisting.

He said Rs130 million had been stuck at the deputy commissioner’s office since 2016 because of the stay orders.
