Mines reluctant to register workers to be closed, says minister

SHANGLA: Provincial minister for labour and culture Shaukat Yousafzai has said that all those mines which were reluctant to register their labourers with the relevant department would be closed.

He was talking to mediapersons during inaugural ceremony of Rescue 1122 service at Lilonai here on Wednesday. Deputy commissioner Imran Hussain Ranjha, Rescue 1122 and other local officials were present on the occasion.

The minister said that the rescue service was urgently needed as Shangla district was vulnerable to natural disasters and had already been hit by flash floods, earthquake and rain-related disasters many a time.

He said that inauguration of the service amid Covid-19 pandemic was an excellent step. He said that the rescue service would be extended to all areas of the province by establishing its stations.
Earlier, district emergency officer Nasar Khan briefed the minister about the service. The minister also inspected the station and equipment that would be used for rescue work in Alpuri tehsil.
