Martyred Lieutenant Colonel Rasheed Karim Baig laid to rest in Hunza

HUNZA: Wrapped in Pakistani flag, Shaheed Lieutenant Colonel Raashid Karim Baig was laid to rest in his native village Hyderabad, Hunza with full military honours.

Shaheed Baig has left behind 80-year-old mother, widow and a one-year-old daughter. His Father, Col. Masood Baig (Masti Baig), was also martyred in the line of duty in 1986 in Hyderabad Sindh. His brother Lt. Col. Hamid Karim Baig and sister Squadron leader Laila Baig are also serving Pakistan forces. His brother in law Captain Abdullah Khan has also embraced shahdaat on Feb. 18, 1995 in Rajri Sindh while serving Pakistan Army.

Earlier, the funeral prayers of Shaheed Baig were also offered at Gilgit helipad attended by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan and senior civilian and military officials.

The 42-year-old Lt Col Raashid Karim Baig embraced Shahadat in an IED Blast in Kharkamar, North Wazirstan on Friday. Terrorists targeted military vehicle through an IED planted on road. 3 officers and a soldier embraced Shahadat and 4 soldiers injured.
Earlier this, Funeral prayer of Shaheed Lt Col Raashid Karim Baig was offered at the Gilgit helipad. Chief Minister and other high ranking civil and military official participated in the funeral prayer.
