SHANGLA: A man has admitted killing his 22-year-old mentally-ill son after a quarrel.

Shangla police spokesman Umar Rehman told reporters on Monday that Said Sharif had reported to the Karora police on Sunday that his son, Mir Alam had committed suicide.

However, he said SHO Anwar Syed after inspecting the body decided to investigate the case and took the deceased’s father into custody. During interrogation, Said Sharif confessed to killing his son in Ashary area of Shahpur over a petty issue.

“My son Mir Alam was mentally abnormal and always quarreled with his family. He took out a knife over a petty issue, but I shot him dead before he could hurt anyone,” the accused admitted. SHO Syed said the deceased was a married person.
The police have lodged an FIR against the accused under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and begun further interrogations.

Separately, the Dandai police arrested a man and recovered weapons being smuggled to Kohistan from Thakot, Battagram, in a car.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Naeem told reporters that during routine checking a car was stopped at the Dandai checkpost near the border with Battagram, and upon search, four guns were found from it. The police registered a case against the suspected arms smuggler. Also on Monday, two persons were injured in a road accident on the outskirts of Bisham.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said a car coming from Karora to Bisham fell into a gorge near the Bisham city, injuring two persons.

The rescuers retrieved the injured and after providing them with first aid shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Bisham.
