Locals halt work on Dassu Hydropower Project in Kohistan

The residents of Kohistan Upper halted work on the 4500 megawatts Dassu Hydropower Project, protesting against the alleged recruitment of non-locals in the project.
The Upper Kohistan deputy commissioner, Irfanullah Mehsood confirmed to The Northern Post that the locals halted work on the project on Sunday evening.
The local elders, Hafeez Ur Rehman, Mulvi Uzair tehsil chairman, Malik Idress tehsil chairman, and Anwarul Haq tehsil chairman Kandia led the protest rally.
They demand the recruitment of local people in the project and an increase of daily wages for them and other demands included in their charter of demands.
