Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur inaugurated the newly constructed Jarobi Dam in Nowshera district today. Provincial Ministers Aqibullah Khan, Khalid Rahman, and elected members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Nowshera were also present on the occasion.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 777 million, the Jarobi Dam stands 115 feet high and 697 feet wide. It will provide 4.65 cusecs of water for irrigation, bringing 930 acres of barren land under cultivation. Additionally, a 6.15-kilometer-long canal has been built to facilitate irrigation in nearby villages. Apart from irrigation, the dam will improve water storage and supply for domestic use, providing 0.75 cusecs of drinking water, sufficient for a population of 22,000.
During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced a Rs. 20 million project to address the drinking water issues in Jarobi. He also pledged to construct the remaining 2 kilometers of road in the area and included plans for the construction of a Rural Health Center (RHC) in the next fiscal year’s budget.
In a significant move, the Chief Minister announced a special package to provide solar systems to 250 deserving households in Jarobi. He emphasized the importance of education and moral values, urging the youth to focus on their studies and ethical development. “The current provincial government is committed to providing opportunities for youth to excel in all fields,” he stated.
The Jarobi Dam is expected to play a pivotal role in the region’s agricultural and economic development, addressing water scarcity and improving the quality of life for local residents. The Chief Minister’s announcements reflect the government’s dedication to infrastructure development and welfare initiatives in the province.
