Lower Kohistan: Residents of Kolai, Batera and Dara Mada Khel have blocked Karakoram Highway at Glozbanda in Lower Kohistan, staged protest demanding district headquarters at Batera instead of Pallas.
Hundreds of protesters came from various parts of Kolai, Dara Mada Khel and Batera marched about seven kilometers from Jijal to Gloz Banda of Lower Kohistan, where they blocked the KKH for two hours and protested in support of their demands.
Badar Zaman, Mulana Nasiruddin, Mulana Abdur Rehman, Mulana Abdul Wahid led the protest.
While addressing protesters, they said that they have been protesting in support of their demands for last six days but no one is hearing their voice.
“Today was last day of our peaceful protest and reopening the KKH, if our demands were not accepted within two days they would block the KKH permanently and also take law in hands for taking our rights forcefully,” Mulana Ihsanulahq said.
He alleged that speaker Punjab’s assembly Chudhry Pervez Elahi asked prime minister Imran Khan for suspending previous notification of the headquarters and issuing new notification of Pallas.
Badar Zaman, said that they do not want clash but the elected MPA wanted bloodshed among between the two tribes, the MPA would be responsible for everything.
“If our demands were not meet withing next two days, they would permanently block the KKH for all sort of traffic, we can never tolerate such injustices of the government and MPA,” He said.
A scuffle was also erupted between the police and protesters but the DPO Suliman Khan ended the scuffle while letting the protester to continue their strike for sometime more.
Five resolution were adopted by the speakers, which were unanimously passed by the protesters, demanding to declared Batera as district headquarters of the KPK district, if the government did not cancel the recently issued notification of Pallas, people of the tehsil Kolai will come onto KKH for agitation.
Demanding from PM Imran Khan and CM Mehmood Khan for immediately cancellation of notification of Pallas, MPA Mufti Ubaid Ur Rehman should apologize from Kolai people for failing in his commitments.
They demanded of the PM Imran Khan and CM Mehmood Khan to meet their committee members sitting in Islamabad for this matter and resolved the issue immediately.
