SHANGLA: Awami National Party district president Sadeedur Rehman and his companions are likely to join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf here after ANP expelled them by suspending their party membership.

It is expected that Mr Sadeed, who was a former candidate for NA-10, and his father Saeed Fareen would join PTI.

“It is a wrong decision of ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan who expelled us from the party without issuing us any show-cause notice. Aimal Wali is responsible for destruction of his party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Mr Sadeed alleged.

He said that they would decide to join either PTI or any other political party after consultation with their supporters in the near future because they had been in politics since 1995.

He termed the decision of their expulsion by ANP provincial president an injustice with them, saying they had played a vital role in strengthening of the party in Shangla district.

Gulzar Khan, former district councillor of ANP, also announced that he would no longer be part of ANP and would join another party in the coming days.

“Expelling district president from the party without any reason was a ridiculous and immature act of the provincial president who does not know the party policy and rules,” he said.

Nawaz Mehmood Khan, provincial vice-president of PTI, said that he had heard about Mr Sadeed’s removal from the party. He said that they would formally invite him to join their party.

“I and Shaukat Yousafzai will visit his residence on Saturday (tomorrow) for giving Saeed Fareen a formal invitation to join PTI,” the PTI’s vice-president said. He said that the party would get a boost with the joining of Saeed Fareen and his supporters in Shangla district.
