Diamer – A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, Asif Khan, and his two brothers in Butt Sloy/Tatta Pani, Diamer. The victim’s family has accused the Thalichi Police Station of purposely delaying the registration of an FIR, despite repeated pleas for justice.
According to local journalist Kiran Qasim, the victim, a resident of Jaglote, was murdered after being taken from Gilgit to Diamer. Her mother approached the Thalichi Police Station to file an FIR against Asif Khan and his brothers, Muhammad Rahim and Muhammad Naseem, but the police reportedly pressured the family and failed to register the complaint for over three days.
The victim’s mother has now appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Chief Secretary, the Force Commander, and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, demanding the immediate arrest of the alleged killers and the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to move the case from Diamer to Gilgit for further investigation. The family suspects that the local police might have been involved in or complicit with the crime, given the circumstances surrounding the murder and the subsequent lack of action.

“The fact that my daughter was taken from Gilgit to Diamer and murdered so mercilessly, coupled with the police’s inaction and pressure on our family, suggests that the Diamer police were informed or involved in planning this crime,” the victim’s mother stated in her appeal for justice.
Furthermore, the victim’s mother expressed grave concerns for her family’s safety, requesting the government of Gilgit-Baltistan to provide protection. She had previously written to the Assistant Commissioner of Jaglote for help, which led to an order for the arrest of Asif Khan. However, the police failed to act in time, and the victim was killed before any arrest could be made.
The incident has raised serious questions about the role of local law enforcement and the safety of the victim’s family as they continue to seek justice.
