The Shangla health department has confirmed a first dengue case in Shangla the other day, termed it a travel history case and under treatment, while precautionary measures were being taken.
Kamal Zada Communicable diseases control officer, told The Northern Post that a dengue fever case was reported in Bisham tehsil area, the patient had a travel history but still the health department focused to take precautionary measures to stem the disease from spreading further.
He said they had started a fumigation spray in Bisham city, Butyal, Shang, Maira, Batkot, Dandai and other areas on Tuesday which would last for two days.
He said the lady health workers across the district particularly in Bisham city were already engaged in pre-campaign, every LHW visited their respective catchment areas houses and eliminate stagnant water and larva in tanks in the houses, whereas the health department Malaria program teams in the bazars and markets.
Mr Zada said the department had also established isolation wards for dengue patients in all health facilities of the district to deal with the patient carefully.
