Karakoram International University (KIU) students on Friday staged a protest, blocking University Road for hours in Gilgit against fee hike on Monday.
Protesters said the university administration had messed up its resources, and now burdened the poor students by increasing the fee without providing them facilities. They said the university administration had suspended admissions of many students and registered FIR against them for protesting for their rights.
KIU is the only public-sector university in the region, where more than 10,000 local students are enrolled.
Protesting students were chanting slogans against the vice chancellor and the university administration.
