Foundation stone laid of first ever jail in Shangla

SHANGLA: District and Sessions Judge, Shangla, Mohammad Naseem Khan laid foundation stone of the first ever judicial lock-up (sub-jail) in Bisham here on Wednesday. It is being constructed on the directives and support of the Peshawar High Court, meeting the longstanding demand of the residents. Judges and senior lawyers were also present.

On the occasion, DSJ Naseem Khan said the jail was essential as hundreds of local inmates were in jails out of the district jails due to which their families were troubled when they met them.

He said the PHC chief justice had formally approved the construction of the sub-jail in Bisham to facilitate the prisoners and their relatives.

He said the jail was scheduled to be complete till 2020.

Senior lawyer Shah Fawad Khan said it was good news for the Shangla people because they had been facing hardships due to absence of a jail in Shangla.

He thanked the PHC chief justice and DSJ for their efforts for establishment of sub-jail in the district.
