SHANGLA: Heavy snowfall continued for second consecutive day in upper parts of Shangla here on Monday blocking Bisham-Swat road at Shangla top and Alpuri-Puran road at Yakhtangay while the cold weather also forced the hilly areas resident to stay inside the houses.
The snowfall at hilly areas and rain in plain areas of Shangla was started on Sunday evening and continued for second consecutive day, on Monday and covered the district Shangla mountains in snow blanket.
On the other hand, due to heavy snowfall weather of the region has turned to cold and temperature decline bellow the freezing point, also due to heavy snowfall including major roads Bisham-Swat, Alpuri-Puran and link roads of the district had been blocked troubling to commuters.
Meanwhile, the district police officer Shangla said that he has formed a special team in supervision of SDPO Amjad Ali for helping tourists and local commuters on the snowy roads.
DPO Rasool Shah issued a statement here on Monday in view of receiving heavy snowfall that Shangla has been receiving heavy snowfall usually in winter season due to which including local commuters and tourists faced severe hardships.
He said for helping tourists, especially pulling out their stuck vehicles from the snow, however the DPO appealed the tourists and local transporters to must ensure snow-chain while traveling to Shangla.
He said police will not allow vehicles drivers without having snow-chain on their vehicles tiers because it may lead to deadly accidents.
DPO also requested to citizen for cooperating with police because they would be present for their help.
