SHANGLA: District education officer Shangla, Muhammad Amin has said that a biggest number of girls is out of school in the district, similarly the male literacy rate is also just 38 percent, while except Pakistan the rest of countries have achieved the goal of enrolling out of school children and now striving for taking measures towards quality education.
The district education officer was addressing at the enrollment launching event here at government primary school Butyal, deputy district education officer, Muhammad Aurangzeeb, SDEO Bisham Aurangzeeb Khan, ASDEO Muhammad Riaz Khan, Social activist Guldad Khan also spoke at the event, while teachers, local people, teachers and students were present on the occasion.
A walk was also held in Bisham bazaar which led by the DEO and marched the participants from Swat road to GPS Butyal, while carrying banners and placards inscribed with messages about the importance of education.
DEO Said that United Nations had taken a decision that every child under age of 5 should be in enrolled in the school till 2015 but Pakistan has yet to succeed in it and still facing the problem.
“Unfortunately the Bisham tehsil is at the lowest number in district education ranking, while the female literacy rate is just 12 percent and male 38 percent. We have to bring out of school both girls and boys under age of 05 to schools because it is their fundamental right,” He said.
The DEO, appealed the social activist to come farword for this cause and play their due role to enroll out of school children of their respective areas in schools.
Aurang Zeeb, SDEO Bisham tehsil, said, although teachers and students are facing difficulties due to shortage of rooms, shortage of teachers, furniture and on the other hand, strength is higher in the schools and classes are overcrowded with students but teachers have to compete with all these challenges and management is making efforts to overcome the issues.
ASDEO, Muhammad Riaz urged the parents to must enroll their out of school children during ongoing mid-year enrollment campaign so that they could also get this basic right.
Guldad Khan, a social activist and former, village council nazim, said, government schools are now much better than private schools and due to recruitment of new qualified teachers through NTS has brought positive changes in the government schools education and students are now intelegent and gaining education.
He demanded of the local people to identify out of school children of their areas, neighbors and inform him then he will enroll them in the school.
Two girl students were enrolled in the GPS Butyal on the occasion by DEO Muhammad Amin and handed them over books.
