Holding Peace Jirga a major achievement of KP government: Shafi Jan

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that the convening of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Jirga at the Provincial Assembly is a major achievement of the provincial government.

PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that the convening of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Jirga at the Provincial Assembly is a major achievement of the provincial government.

He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Speaker Babar Saleem Swati deserve praise for successfully organizing this Jirga, expressing hope that the recommendations presented during the Jirga will prove to be a milestone in establishing peace.
Speaking to media representatives after the event, the Special Assistant said that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Ibad, along with former governors, chief ministers, tribal elders, leaders of various political parties, provincial and national media personnel, and members of civil society, participated in the Jirga and presented valuable suggestions for the establishment of peace.
Shafi Jan stated that “today will be written in golden words in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” describing it as a historic day for the province. He informed that 15 recommendations were unanimously approved during the Jirga, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will make decisions in light of these recommendations.
He added that a draft committee comprising representatives of different political parties has been formed to finalize the recommendations. He emphasized that law and order are currently the biggest challenges facing the province, citing recent incidents in Khyber, Katlang, Bajaur, and other areas. In view of these circumstances, a grand Peace Jirga – the first of its kind in the province’s history – was convened to bring together all schools of thought on one platform.
The Special Assistant expressed hope that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Jirga will serve as a milestone for lasting peace in the province. He said that bringing peace is a collective responsibility, and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will fulfill the mandate given by the people, ensuring sustainable peace in line with the vision of Imran Khan.
