Windstorm hit Bisham tehsil, rooftops blew away

SHANGLA: A windstorm accompanied by rain and hailstorm on Sunday night blew away rooftops of several houses, sign boards and also caused collapse of walls of houses here at Bisham areas.
The locals told Dawn here on Monday that their mud and steel sheets rooftops were badly affected as results of strong gale as many of houses sheets were blew away and their gates uprooted forcing them to live under the open sky.
“I am a poor daily wager and earn hardly 500 to 800 daily, My house roof sheets were blew away on Sunday night and he along his neighbour could only rescued family, children from the house to a nearby house,” Sayed Wahab, a local survivor of the Gul Bahar Colony in Bisham city said.
He said, he has nothing to rebuild the house and the sheets and woods of the roof were damaged and now living under the open sky.
They said, sign boards of the various business centers were also uprooted by the gusty winds.
The affected people said that the strong winds affected mostly Bisham tehsil areas where steel sheets roofs, entry gates, signboards and other things were damaged.
They said neither the district administration nor revenue officials visited them for asking them and relief because of some of them are living under the open sky.
They demanded of the government, particularly the provincial disaster management authority for relief and financial support, so that they could rehabilitate their houses.
This correspondent attempts to get official version of the DC Shangla about the incidents but his PRO did not attend the call.
