Peshawar high court bars arrest of KP CM Sohail Afridi until November 18
Court issues written order on Afridi’s protective bail plea; directs authorities to submit case details and refrain from any arrest or action until next hearing
Peshawar High Court issue a written ruling in relation to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s request for protective bail. According to the court’s order, Sohail Afridi cannot be arrested until November 18.
The written judgment states that letters have been sent to the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Assistant Attorney General, who have been directed to provide the court with an update at the upcoming hearing. The court additionally ordered that all relevant information be provided prior to the subsequent hearing if any proceedings be filed against Sohail Afridi.
Additionally, the court ordered the government to wait until the next hearing date before acting or detaining the Chief Minister. It has been decided to postpone the matter until November 18.
Advocates Basheer Khan Wazir and Alam Khan Adinzai went before the court on behalf of the petitioner, claiming that the Chief Minister’s basic rights were being infringed and that he was being singled out for political purposes.
The Peshawar High Court issued this written order on the protective bail petition, after hearing the arguments.
