NDMA has forecast heavy rains, strong winds, and the risk of urban flooding in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the coming days.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government minister, Arshad Ayub Khan, has said that all government institutions across the province have been put on high alert amid Monsoon rains.
The minister said this in a statement his office issued on Sunday.
It said that the Minister of Local Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ayub Khan, has issued instructions to all local government institutions across the province to remain on alert and ensure public service in the field in view of the expected monsoon rains.
According to a statement, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast heavy rains, strong winds, and the risk of urban flooding in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the coming days.
The minister’s statement said, to deal with the likely situation, all relevant institutions have been directed to keep necessary machinery, staff, and resources ready round the clock. The public is also urged to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.
Minister Arshad Ayub Khan stated that all officers and staff must remain at their designated posts, take immediate action in any emergency, and prioritise assisting citizens.
It mentioned that protecting the lives and wealth of the public is their top responsibility.
It said these instructions have also been sent to the Director General of Local Government, Urban Area Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Services, Peshawar Development Authority, Local Council Board, and other relevant institutions.
