Viral video of woman’s murder in Balochistan sparks widespread outrage on Social Media

A video went viral on social media in which a woman and a man are killed in the name of honour. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident and ordered the immediate investigation and arrest of the accused. Government Spokesman Shahid Rind condemned the incident and said that the accused involved in this humanitarian atrocity will be brought to justice in any case. The Chief Minister has advised the law-enforcing institutions to arrest the accused as soon as possible and also provide a detailed investigation report.
According to details, a couple who got married a year and a half ago were invited by the people of the tribes for a feast. But this invitation was to show their honour, not for food. Both were led to a barren field, where 19 men surrounded them, and five of them had weapons. 24-year-old Shetal and 32-year-old Zerk were brought to the scene of slaughter in a convoy of vehicles. Shetal had the Holy Quran in her hands, and she walked forward in peace and said, “Only firing is allowed”. But no one asked for her permission. She silently moved towards the scene of slaughter, and neither her feet trembled nor did she have pleading in her eyes. However, Zerk was shot twice as often.
This is not the first time that someone has been killed in the name of honour. Here, people are burned alive in a house, court, or in-laws’ house in the name of an excuse for a compromise agreement, just because they have married according to their will. The honor does not satisfy with a punishment less than death. This incident has again raised the concern about how long we have to bear these unjust traditional customs.
Government Spokesman Shahid Rind has also said these cruel actions are not acceptable under any condition. He further clarified that no one is above the law and no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands. He expressed his determination to provide justice to the affected family, and the accused will be punished strictly under the law.
The incident has sparked a backlash on social media, with users condemning the honor killings and demanding swift justice. Now it is to be seen whether the accused will really get the punishment, or this case will be suppressed like many other cases.
