Swat scholar successfully defends PhD thesis on COVID-19’s impact on tourism

Originally from Gombad Maira, Mingora (Swat), Malik has been actively involved in the education sector and continues his teaching career at the University of Swat.

 

Jahan Ul Mulk Malik, a dedicated educationist from Swat, has successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Assessing the Impacts of COVID-19 on Tourism of Swat, Pakistan.” He completed his doctorate in Sociology from the University of Malakand under the supervision of Dr. Umar Daraz, Assistant Professor of Sociology at UoM.

The thesis defence was evaluated by a panel of esteemed external examiners, including Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, Vice Chancellor of Chitral University, and Dr. Raza Ullah, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi.

Originally from Gombad Maira, Mingora (Swat), Malik has been actively involved in the education sector and continues his teaching career at the University of Swat. In addition to his academic contributions, he has also worked with various national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs and INGOs), focusing on social development.

His research is expected to offer valuable insights into the effects of the global pandemic on Swat’s vital tourism industry and contribute to the formulation of recovery strategies for the region.
