SHANGLA: The residents of Pirkhana and Ajmeer have complained about the bad condition of main Lodhar road and absence of drainage alongside it, which has been causing inconvenience to the commuters and pedestrians.
They told mediapersons here on Sunday that the major road connecting tourist spots of Pirkhana union council through the Lodhar bridge to Ajmeer had been lying in a dilapidated condition for the last several years. They said that commuters and pedestrians in Belkanai bazaar were also facing problems because of this.
“In case of heavy rain, the floodwater inundates the road and also enters our shops, destroying goods and foodstuff. We want the government to build the road and construct sewerage line along the road,” said Mohammad Khalid, a local trader.
Javid Iqbal, a resident, said that the vehicles often developed faults while using Pirkhana road.
Mr Iftikhar said that patients of the area had to suffer more trouble during their transportation to hospitals through this shabby road. Besides, dust pollution is a routine causing throat infection, allergy and other diseases among the locals.
When contacted, information minister Shaukat Yousafzai said that he had approved 17-kilometre blacktop road from Damorai to Logay and work would be started soon. He said that drainage system could be included in the road project.
