Pakistan announces tough diplomatic and economic measures against India

National security committee meeting decides to cancel Indian visas, close airspace, suspend trade, and expel military advisers

An important meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss India’s recent actions following the attack in Pahalgam, occupied Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists. The NSC announced strict diplomatic, economic, and security measures against India.

The NSC decided to cancel all Indian visas issued under the visa scheme, except for Sikh pilgrims, and ordered Indian citizens to leave the country within 48 hours. Additionally, Indian defense, air, and naval advisers have been declared persona non grata and must leave Pakistan.

Pakistan has immediately closed its airspace to Indian airlines and completely shut down the Wagha border crossing. All cross-border movement has been suspended.

On the economic front, the NSC decided to suspend all trade relations with India. No other country will be allowed to use Pakistani land or air routes for trade with India.

At the diplomatic level, the NSC decided to limit the staff of the Indian High Commission to 30 personnel. The committee also made it clear that Pakistanreserves the right to suspend all bilateral agreements, including the Shimla Agreement.

The meeting expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness of the armed forces and made it clear that any aggression by India will be met with full force.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief, Naval Chief, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials.
