Pakistan has witnessed a welcome reduction in UPS and solar battery prices during April 2025. Market sources report significant price drops ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 for lithium and tubular batteries. The lithium battery previously priced at Rs. 400,000 is now available for Rs. 380,000, while the tubular battery price has decreased from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 55,000.
Solar panel prices have also seen considerable reduction, falling from Rs. 30 per watt to Rs. 28 per watt. Energy experts attribute this price drop to increased imports and government incentives. Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari stated that Pakistan imported 8,000 megawatts worth of solar panels last year.
The government continues working on plans for local production of solar inverters and related equipment, which is expected to further reduce prices while boosting domestic industry. This development has particularly benefited consumers in load-shedding affected areas. Analysts suggest that if current policies continue, alternative energy systems may become even more affordable in coming months.
