At least 15 people fell seriously ill after allegedly consuming poisonous food during an iftar gathering at Jamia Muhammadiya Madrasa in Maidan Kotkai, Lower Dir.
Rescue 1122 teams swiftly responded to the emergency, providing immediate medical assistance before transporting all affected individuals to Lal Qilla Hospital. Due to the severity of their condition, five patients were later referred to Timergara Hospital for further treatment.
The victims, identified as Shams, Sirajuddin, Masood, Gul Sharif Khan, Sanam Gul, Hilal, Wali Khan, Sana, Abbas, Sadees, and Abdul Rehman, reportedly suffered severe reactions shortly after eating the meal.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of contamination. Rescue 1122 officials confirmed the situation is now under control but urged vigilance regarding food safety during Ramadan.
