The Department of Criminology, University of Peshawar, organized a One-Day Seminar on Self-Accountability in collaboration with Student Societies and the Business Incubation Center, University of Peshawar.
The event saw the presence of esteemed guests, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr Naeem Qazi; Chief Guest, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Anti-Corruption, Brigadier (Retd.) Muhammad Musaddiq Abbasi, Dr Muhammad Ibrar, Assistant Professor, Criminology Department and Director, Student Societies, University of Peshawar and Director, Business Incubation Center, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed.
The event was commenced with a welcome address from Director, Business Incubation Center, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, who highlighted the significance of self-accountability in shaping responsible individuals and professionals. He spoke about the role of BIC in fostering an environment of learning and development.
The Chief Guest, Brigadier (Retd.) Muhammad Musaddiq Abbasi in his address provided insights into self-accountability in governance and personal life. He categorized corruption into two forms: Need-based and Greed-based, emphasizing that elite corruption is the most destructive. He addressed the importance of developing key life habits and recommended several books to the students of Criminology department, reinforcing the importance of reading. Lastly, he recited Allama Iqbal’s poetry, reinforcing the importance of nationhood and Unity, stating that “Unity is held through religion and gives rise to a nation.”
The concluding remarks were shared by Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Naeem Qazi. He praised the thought-provoking discussion and urged students to apply these lessons in their daily lives. He underscored the necessity of gaining authentic knowledge and referenced the achievements of Abbas Ibn Firnas, emphasizing the idea that continuous learning and innovation are key to progress.
The event concluded with the distribution of shields to the Chief Guest and a group photo.
