Six held, shops sealed in Alpuri Shangla

The vendors were fleecing consumers and selling expired food items

The Alpuri tehsil administration arrested six vendors and sealed four other shops for overcharging customers in Lilownai bazaar of Alpuri.

The Alpuri tehsil assistant commissioner, Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui accompnied by revenue staff and police followed by pubic complaints, conducted raids in Lilownai bazaar on Tuesday.

The Alpuri tehsil assistant commissioner inspected the quality of foods being sold at the shops and checked the price and display of price lists and found shopkeepers fleecing the consumers and not abiding the instructions made by the administration regarding cleanliness and displaying price lists.

AC Alpuri, Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui told The Northern Post that six vendors, including chicken dealers had been sent to jail after lodging FIRs against them for overcharging customers.

He said four shops had also been sealed in the Lilownai bazaar for violating the government set standard operating procedures for vendors.

The AC also instructed other shopkeepers to abide the rules and avoid fleecing consumers otherwise legal action would be taken against them.
