8 family members die as mini jeeb fell into deep gorge

Including women, six people of a family died and three others were injured when a mini jeep fell into a deep gorge in Bar Batkot area of Bisham tehsil on Monday night.

According to the police officials, Iqbal Rawan a resident of Bar Batkot was taking his family back to his home from Maira on Monday night when the unfortunate jeep fell into hundreds of feet deep gorge as a result, including, five women and Iqbal Rawan himself died and three of their other family members were injured in the fatal accident.

He said the accident occurred at high altitude mountainous village Bar Batkot which road condition was dilapidated and narrow and the mobile network was also not working properly.

He said initially local people put their efforts in rescue work and pulled out the dead bodies and injured from the destroyed vehicle and shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Bisham.

He said the family was returning back to their home when met the accident and their bodies handed over to their families and injured were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in Abottabad for further treatment as their condition was not stable.

Police identified the dead as Iqbal Rawan, Tasvisa, Namriqa, Naza Bibi, Jan Zari and Muslima Bibi and injured Navida Bibi, Muflika Mehak-3 and Zarshed Khan.
