8 children died in landslide incident in Shangla

At least 8 children died while one was injured in a mudslide incident that took place at Kuz Kaly area of Martung in the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The Shangla deputy commissioner, Hassan Abid told The Northern Post that the incident took place at Martung tehsil of Shangla district where these children were playing cricket on a makeshift ground, when the mudslide fell burying them underneath.
DC said the operation was later concluded after 8 bodies were recovered and an injured one and shifted to the Rural health center, Martung.
The locals said the deceased children were relatives of each other and siblings, ages between 6-14, and belonged to poor families in the area.
Landslide hit houses in Harban Upper Kohistan
DC Shangla later told journalists that as per the KP government’s policy, the families of the deceased will get a compensation of Rs500,000 while Rs200,000 will be given to the injured child.
