Schools Shut, Holiday Declared: Haripur Gears Up for By-Election

HARIPUR: A three-day holiday was announced by the district administration of Haripur. The notification of holidays was issued ahead of the elections scheduled on November 23 for NA-18. Former opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan was disqualified, which led to the vacant seat of NA-18.
According to the notification, there will be a three-day local holiday across the district to ensure smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the elections process scheduled on November 18 for the upcoming by-elections for NA-18 in the district of Haripur. Deputy Commissioner of Haripur said that all designated polling stations will remain fully available.
It stated that the local holiday has been declared for three days, from November 22 to November 24, during the by-elections in the district.
The notification also stated that the local holiday has been declared from November 22 to November 24 for three days during the by-elections in the district.
The notification stated that the holiday was announced to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted election process.
All private and government schools will remain closed because they will be used for election polling.
A total of 602 polling stations across the constituency will be established on November 23 for the by-election of NA-18 Haripur, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan, to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process.
ECP said that a total of nine candidates were contesting the by-election on NA-18, including representatives from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
According to political analysts, a strong contest is expected between PML-N Babar Nawaz Khan and the spouse of Omar Ayub Khan, Ms Shehrnaz.
