Tax return filing deadline extended by federal board of revenue

FBR extends manual return filing deadline to November 30, 2025

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday announced an extension in the deadline for taxpayers filing returns using manual forms rather than its website.

A special announcement from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that measures to assist manual income tax filers as part of its ongoing efforts to fully digitise tax operations across Pakistan.

Intending to ensure a seamless shift to the digital submission process, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ceased hard copy return filings from Fiscal Period 2024. Acknowledging that a minority of traditional tax filers may encounter difficulties adjusting to the digital system, the FBR has opted to furnish specific aid for such individuals.

It has been decided to affirm this transition that a dedicated cell in each tax office will provide all necessary legal and technical assistance to taxpayers who were formerly filing manual returns.

Moreover, the FBR has extended the return filing deadline for manual tax filers until 30th November 2025, under the powers conferred by Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

The FBR encourages taxpayers to seek free assistance at their respective tax offices for both registration and online return filing. Furthermore, all FBR field offices are ensuring that complimentary legal aid is available to any taxpayer who needs it during this tax year.

This initiative reflects FBR’s commitment to facilitating taxpayers and promoting a fully digitised, transparent, and efficient tax system in Pakistan.
