Pakistan clinches exciting win over South Africa in first ODI

Pakistan defeated South Africa by 2 wickets in the first match of the three-match ODI series, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

FAISALABAD: Pakistan clinched an exciting win over South Africa in the first match of the three-match ODI series, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

In the match played at Faisalabad Cricket Stadium, Pakistan chased down the target of 264 runs set by South Africa in 49.4 overs for the loss of eight wickets.

In Pakistan’s innings, Salman Agha scored 62 runs, Mohammad Rizwan contributed 55, and Fakhar Zaman added 45 runs. Saim Ayub played a crucial innings of 39 runs. Captain Babar Azam managed only 7 runs, while Hussain Talat scored 22 and Hassan Nawaz was dismissed for 1 run.

For South Africa, Langi Ngidi and Donovan Ferreira took two wickets each.

Batting first, South Africa posted 263 runs in 49.1 overs. Quinton de Kock scored 63, Luan-Dre Pretorius played a responsible innings of 57, captain Matthew Boje contributed 42, and Kagiso Bosh scored 41. Tony de Zorzi made 18 runs.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each, Saim Ayub claimed two, and Muhammad Nawaz picked up one wicket.
