Abu Dhabi opens doors for couples worldwide to marry online

Abu Dhabi introduces a global online marriage service through its TAMM app, allowing couples worldwide to legally wed without being physically present in the UAE.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched an app where couples, anytime and anywhere in the world, can get married without any further hesitation; they don’t even need to be seated in the Emirates, as stated by the head of this project.

In other countries, online marriage is still considered new and developing. In Ukraine, they are launching a service in 2024 that will allow couples who are separated in terms of the war to tie the knot using its official government-based application.

According to Mohamed Al Askar, who heads the Abu Dhabi government TAMM app, the United Arab Emirates experimented with allowing online ceremonies for people living in the country during the Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone is welcome. At the Gitex technology fair in Dubai, he told AFP, “Anyone who wants to get married in Abu Dhabi, regardless of their nationality, can get the service online.

Further, he said, “People can go online; they can do the whole transaction without the need to go to any physical place. We are among the first to do that “.

The procedure for the registration included the following: the user can complete online forms; the user must have 800 dirhams for the registration and also submit all the necessary documents; and the user must book someone to officiate and even organise a virtual ceremony in as little as 24 hours, according to him.

Both foreign residents and Emirati nationals can use the service, as can non-residents who will require a lawyer or other representative in the nation.

Although it is solely available to foreigners, the United Arab Emirates is the only Gulf nation that permits nonreligious weddings.  The TAMM app’s newest version now includes a marriage feature, giving residents access to over 1,000 digital government services.
