KP Govt, UN FAO join forces to promote commercial tea cultivation
Collaboration Aims to Develop Value Chain, Attract Private Investment, and Drive Sustainable Growth in the Industry
In order to promote tea cultivation and production on commercial bases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a delegation of the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, led by Head of Provincial Office, Kiyal Akmatbek, visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) office.
The delegation, which included John Snell, International Tea Expert, and National Consultants, met with Secretary Industries, Commerce & Technical Education Department / CEO KP-BOIT, Masood Ahmad and Vice Chairman KP-BOIT, Hassan Masood Kunwar.
Discussions focused on the progress of a proposed Business Model and Comprehensive Plan for Tea cultivation and Commercialization in the province. The forum also explored potential avenues for private sector investment in the tea industry, highlighting the importance of policy reforms to foster an enabling environment for public-private partnerships (PPP).
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting sustainable growth in the tea sector through strategic collaboration, value chain development and capacity building.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination between KP-BOIT and FAO for the effective execution and expansion of tea commercialization initiatives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
