Unknown gunmen stormed Paiz's house, forced him out and shot him dead

Fazal Ahmed Paiz, an Ismaili Muslim community member and the head of religious affairs martyred by firing in Badkhshan province of Afghanistan.

According to locals, the head of religious affairs of Aga Khan Foundation, Fazal Ahmed Paiz, has been shot dead by gunmen in Zabak district of Badakhshan province, Afghanistan.

The eyewitnesses told that on the evening of Friday, July 4, unknown gunmen stormed Paiz’s house, forced him out and shot him dead. In the photos received by Afghanistan International, Paiz’s bloodied body can be seen.

Local Taliban officials have not yet commented on the incident.

The incident is the second targeted killing of members of the Ismaili community in recent months, raising concerns about possible religious repression and increased pressure on the minority sect.
