Good news: Pakistanis can now access visa-free travel to 32 countries

Diplomatic efforts bear fruit as UAE agreement eases travel; e-passport free services soon

Pakistani passport ranking has improved and reached the 100th position, according to Henley and Partners, an International Organization of Rankings. In 2021, the Pakistani ranking stood at the 113th number. This improvement is attributed to Pakistan’s improved diplomatic efforts and increased international relations.
Now Pakistani citizens can get the facility of visa-free travel or visa on-arrival for 32 countries. This development came when Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement according to which both country’s diplomatic and government passport holders can travel without a visa.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has posted on X that he signed the agreement with Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nehaan on “reciprocal visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports”. He also said, This step is important for strengthening our mutual relations and reflects the commitment to deepening institutional cooperation at all levels.

According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, the Pakistani Passport has made its place in the top 100 passports of the world after many years. Now, green passport holders can get an advantage of a visa-free travel or visa on arrival.
In Global Rankings Singapore stands 1st, Japan and South Korea stand 2nd however Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Irland, Italy, and Spain stand in third number. In the region, Turkey stands 49th, China 64th, and India stands on 82nd number, however, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan ranked the lowest.

The Director General of Passport and Immigration has congratulated the public and foreign minister on this success, particularly praising Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Home Secretary’s efforts. He said that the latest security features have been introduced in passports and soon e-gate will be functional in all major airports for e-passport holders.

He also said that passport services would be made better and overseas Pakistanis would be able to apply online for it. Now, passport fees can be paid easily on the Assan Passport Fee app. Soon, people will be able to apply for a passport, while sitting in their homes. He also said that with the help of the Ministry of Interior, efforts will continue to increase Pakistan’s global status.
