
Over 20 people, including women and children, were drowned in the Swat River on Friday as rain triggered flash floods wreaked havoc in the Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Recent heavy rains have caused severe flooding in several areas of the Swat district, resulting in tragic loss of life and reports of dozens of people stranded. According to an initial report from Rescue 1122, search and rescue operations are currently in progress across multiple locations.
Details indicate that more than 10 people have been confirmed drowned at the Bypass Relax Hotel, with Rescue Station 11 deployed to the scene to conduct search operations.
Three bodies have been recovered from Angrodhirai, where the Station 11 team participated in the rescue efforts.
In Imam Dhirai, over 22 individuals who were trapped in the water have been safely rescued by the team from Rescue Station 33.
In the Ghaligay area, seven people were reported stranded, and one body has been recovered. The operation by Rescue Station 44 in this area is still ongoing.
Additionally, seven individuals are trapped in Manyar, with teams from Rescue Stations 44 and 55 working together on rescue activities.
One person is also trapped in the Panjigram area, where a team from Rescue Station 44 is present to assist.
Furthermore, between 20 to 30 people have been successfully rescued in Barra Bama Khela Matta, with support from Rescue Station 22.
Rescue 1122 Swat teams are continuously engaged in these operations. The public is urged to stay away from flooded areas and to call 1122 immediately in case of emergencies.
