8,68,000 applicants apply for teaching posts in KP, says minister
8.6 lakh applicants vie for 16,454 teaching positions in KP as merit-based hiring process begins
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister of Education, Faisal Khan Tarkai has said that 8,68,000 applicants applied for the different teaching posts of education from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister of Education, Faisal Khan Tarkai, along with Education Testing Agency (ETA), attended a detailed briefing on the hiring of teachers in the department of education.
Executive Direct of ETA, Adil Saafi, attended the meeting along with his team. However, other senior officials like Secretary of Education Department Masood Ahmed, Special Secretary Abdul Basit, Additional Secretary Maqbool Hussain, and Director of Education Naheed Anjum also attended the meeting.
Education Minister was told that on 16,454 seats of teachers, around 8,68,519 applications are received. For 2083 seats of CT, 2,34,901 applicants, 760 seats of Drawing Master 1,27,509 applicants, and for other seats, thousands of other applicants have applied. It was told in the meeting that this week, the test will be taken for 8 thousand positions. The tests for Mardan Division will be held on 8 and 9 July.
Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarkai advised during briefing that this year, it should be made sure to hire people only on the basis of merit. ETA applicants should be appointed after going through technical steps of paper based, computer based, and document based verification. He insisted that the testing process should be held faster so that after summer vacations, students can get the best teachers for them.
Teachers hiring should be solely based on the merit of competance, talent and intelligence, and the hired teachers will be trained on modern patterns with the technical support of Cambridge University. Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarkai called the process of negative marking, an efficient tool of sorting out the intelligent people instead of incompetant people. He also said that if any applicant has any problem with any question, he/she can contact ETA or Education Department directly.
Education Minister Faisal Tarkai said, “Teaching is a holy profession and the aim of this hiring is to provide the best teachers to the provincial students so that they can get quality education.”
Education Minister Faisal Tarkai also prised the role of ETA and visited its office. After a detailed assessment of the capacity and performance of this institution, he also formally signed the important MOU’s.
