
The awareness event titled “Fostering Environmental Literacy / Empowering Student-Led Climate Action” arranged in the University of Shangla.
The event was attended by 95 participants, including 25 female and 70 male students, as well as faculty members and support staff. The session was supervised by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Shangla, Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan (TI), who presented the event with his opening remarks. He discussed pressing environmental issues, the importance of ecosystem restoration, and emphasized the urgent need to tackle climate change—particularly within the context of the country and District Shangla.
Mr. Ayaz Ali, Assistant Director of Climate Change Adaptation provided a detailed overview of the RCRC Movement, its role in climate advocacy, and the Climate Advocacy and Coordination for Resilient Action (CACRA) Phase-III initiative. He highlighted the fundamental causes and wide-ranging impacts of climate change on different sectors.
Mr. Ayaz stressed the importance of nature-based solutions and shared strategies for effective ecosystem restoration and management. He also underlined the vulnerability of children, the elderly, and women to climate change and the need to implement localized adaptive measures to safeguard these groups.
In support of the “Beat Plastic Pollution” campaign, students actively participated in a campus-wide cleanup, collecting plastic waste and raising awareness about the environmental hazards of plastic pollution.
The event concluded with a strong message of commitment to climate action, resilience, and environmental stewardship among students and faculty of the University of Shangla.
