Naran–Kaghan road reopens after week-long closure

Naran Kaghan road which was closed from June 15 to June 18 is now open

The Naran Kaghan road, which was temporarily closed for construction work from June 15 to June 18, 2025, has now been reopened for all types of traffic.

Tourists and locals are now enjoying smooth travel along the route, which has been made safer and more accessible due to the recent construction efforts. The Karakoram Highway, which served as an alternative during the closure, remains open for those preferring a different scenic route.

The Naran-Kaghan Road holds a special place in Pakistan’s northern region, serving as a lifeline for travelers and locals alike. This scenic route winds through the heart of the Kaghan Valley, connecting the bustling town of Mansehra with the serene landscapes of Naran before climbing toward the high-altitude Babusar Pass, which links Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan.

Naran and Kaghan are among the most cherished destinations in Pakistan’s north, drawing visitors with their untouched beauty and cool mountain air. Naran, sitting at over 2,400 meters above sea level, acts as the main hub for travelers venturing toward the legendary Saif-ul-Malook Lake, a place steeped in folklore and surrounded by towering peaks. Beyond Naran, the Kaghan Valley unfolds with its lush meadows, cascading waterfalls, and the winding Kunhar River, offering some of the most breathtaking views in the country. Villages like Shogran and Siri Paye serve as peaceful retreats, while the journey up to Babusar Top rewards adventurers with panoramic vistas of snow-capped mountains.
