Six of a family die as car plunges into river in Nagar Gilgit

Tragic accident occurred while returning from an event ceremony, car plunged into 300-foot-deep ravine  

Six family members died, while one was injured when a car they were travelling in plunged into the river in Nagar Gilgit on Sunday.

A tragic accident near Bardas in Tehsil Shinbar Chhilt, Nagar, seven family members were swept away when their vehicle plunged into a river late last night. So far, three bodies have been recovered, while the search for the remaining missing persons is ongoing. The incident occurred late at night when the victims were returning from their son’s wedding ceremony. The car lost control while taking a turn and plunged into a 300-foot-deep ravine.

The passengers included three brothers, their two sons, and two nephews, all residents of Chhilt Bala. The bodies of Ghulam Abbas, Sherbaz Ali, and Zohaib have been recovered, while Muhammad Hussain (the driver), Sharafat Hussain, and Aleem remain missing. An 11-year-old injured boy, Kashif Hussain, was shifted to Gilgit Hospital.

Rescue 1122 teams, along with local volunteers, are engaged in the search operation.
