Trump immigration crackdown sparks US wide protests
Los Angeles under curfew as nationwide protests defy Trump’s warnings

United States (US) President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown has sparked US wide protests on Thursday.
Protests against US President Donald Trump’s immigration policies have intensified across the country. Demonstrations have occurred in various states, with large-scale protests taking place in cities like Baltimore, New York, Atlanta, and Chicago.
In New York, more than 2,500 people participated in the protests, leading to police action and the arrest of 83 individuals. Additionally, 150 protesters were detained in San Francisco, 17 in Chicago, and 330 in Southern California.
These protests began in response to raids targeting illegal immigrants in Los Angeles, where the U.S. government has authorised the military to detain citizens. Protesters are calling for the immediate end of the Trump administration’s strict immigration policies, which include family separations and mass arrests.
Human rights organisations and civil liberties groups are organising the protests, condemning the actions of immigration authorities as inhumane. The situation remains tense, and further protests are anticipated.
