Mansehra police rescue abducted child, neutralise kidnappers

A woman and two year old child was allegedly abducted in the Balakot tehsil of Mansehra

The Mansehra Police have reported that a woman and a kidnapped minor child were rescued during a police operation in Damgla, located within the jurisdiction of the Balakot police station. During this encounter, two kidnappers were killed, and weapons were recovered.

On June 5, 2025, Misma (A), the wife of Muhammad Waqas and a resident of Kohistan Colony, filed a report with the Balakot police stating that her two-and-a-half-year-old son, Muhammad Saad, had gone missing. His maternal aunt, identified as (M), had taken him under the pretext of a marriage arrangement. Later, the child’s father, who resides in Dubai, began receiving ransom calls from unknown individuals.

In response, a special team was formed to apprehend the suspects and recover the child. The investigation involved conducting raids, tracing mobile locations, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies.

On June 10, 2025, the kidnappers contacted the victim’s family, instructing them to come to Damgla to pay the ransom. When the police surrounded the suspects, they opened fire. In the resulting shootout, both kidnappers, Armaan Jan and Faheem Khan (Afghan nationals from Badaber, Peshawar), were killed. The kidnapped child, Muhammad Saad, and the woman (M) were safely rescued. The police recovered two .30 caliber pistols and thirty cartridges from the suspects. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
