Sonya Hussyn steps away from acting-‘No more acting, even if my husband asks!’

Pakistani star announces career transition, citing creativecontrol and industry challenges, while opening up about future personal goals

Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has made headlines with her surprising announcement about stepping back from acting to focus on film production and direction. The revelation came during a promotional event for her upcoming horror film Deemak, where she shared her growing passion for behind-the-scenes work. Hussyn, a celebrated star known for her powerful performances in dramas like Aisi Hai Tanhai and films such as Moor, revealed she is now part of the directorial team for Shaan, an emotional film, and is also producing an action movie.

Expressing her desire for more creative control, Hussyn cited frustrations with the television industry, including limited opportunities and delayed payments. “I want to produce films that have substance,” she said, emphasizing her shift toward meaningful storytelling. While she confirmed she would continue acting for a few more years, she hinted at eventually leaving the profession, particularly if her future husband prefers it.

Opening up about her personal life, Hussyn shared her marriage plans, stating she would only settle down with someone “educated, well-behaved, and with strong family values.” She was previously married to fitness trainer Wasif Muhammad in 2014, but the couple parted ways due to irreconcilable differences.

Despite her career transition, fans can still look forward to her lead role in Deemak, a horror-family drama set to release this Eid ul Azha. The film features industry veterans like Javed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, and Faysal Quraishi. Hussyn spoke about the challenges of portraying a possessed character, recalling a particularly intense scene that left the entire set in stunned silence.

Her move into production follows her debut project, Babli/Babar, last November. As Hussyn shifts her focus to creating impactful cinema, her decision marks a bold new chapter in her career, one that could reshape her legacy in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
