The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken proactive measures to ensure that all provincial employees and pensioners receive their salaries and pensions before Eid-ul-Adha. A notification issued by the Finance Department mandates that payments be processed by May 30, 2025, as June 1 falls on a Sunday, a non-working day. This move aims to facilitate financial preparations for the festive occasion.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on May 27 in Islamabad to determine the start of Zul-Hijjah, the Islamic month marking Eid-ul-Adha. If the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid will be celebrated on June 6; otherwise, it will fall on June 7. An astronomer predicts the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, suggesting June 7 as the probable date.
Additionally, Pakistan Railways will operate five special trains from June 2 to 4 to facilitate Eid travel. Eid-ul-Adha, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion, involves Qurbani (sacrifice) and meat distribution among families and the needy.
