The internal rift within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has intensified after a leaked video showed Kanwal Shauzab, president of PTI’s women’s wing, accusing Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, of undermining party chairman Barrister Gohar Khan’s leadership. In the video, Shauzab questioned Aleema’s role in PTI affairs, alleging she was damaging the party from within. She challenged Aleema to join politics openly instead of interfering behind the scenes and defended Barrister Gohar’s appointment, emphasizing that he was nominated by Imran Khan himself.
Shauzab later clarified that the video was taken out of context from a private internal meeting and stressed that PTI members respect Aleema as an elder despite differences. Meanwhile, Aleema Khan denied rumors of any deal between Imran Khan and PML-N, stating that all party decisions are made solely by Imran. She dismissed claims of negotiations with the government, calling it impossible given the alleged electoral mandate theft.
The controversy deepened with another leaked audio involving Qazi Anwar Advocate, president of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, discussing the removal of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Additional Advocate General over weak arguments in a case involving PTI MNA Atif Khan.
Shauzab condemned the video leak, calling it an attempt to destabilize PTI, and reiterated her respect for party positions. PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed Shauzab remains the women’s wing president, dismissing reports of her removal. The leaks have exposed growing factionalism within PTI, with leaders urging unity amid escalating tensions.
